Welcome to Colorful ColoRadio!

Colorado is rich with audio artists, podcast producers and radio professionals, not to mention countless talented journalists who might be curious about the world of sound. Our goal is to connect and inspire by offering a regular space to elevate interesting and impactful work. Each month, we invite speakers who are using audio to tell stories, serve communities, create art or all of the above. In partnership with the Denver Press Club, each event is a conversation between one of us and a guest on a specific topic or project. Afterwards, there’s time to socialize and build community. These conversations will be made available as a podcast later (stay tuned).

About Us:

We are three Denver-based audio people who just wanna hang out and talk about audio and journalism. Esther Honig is a producer for StoryCorps and creates long-form journalism as a freelancer. Josh Mattison is a designer, audio producer/artist and full time dad. Ann Marie Awad is editorial director for the Institute for Independent Journalists and also happens to be an independent journalist.

You’re Invited to Our First Event

February 21 at 6:30 PM at the Denver Press Club

Join ColoRadio for our first event at the Denver Press Club. We are a monthly series for local audio creators and admirers. Our first guests are the team behind Colorado Radio for Justice, a new 24/7 streaming radio station by and for formerly incarcerated Coloradans. 

Founded by producers of the now-defunct Inside Wire: Colorado Prison Radio, which for two years broadcast news, music and information to prisons all over the state and beyond. CO Radio for Justice producer Tiffany McCoy, and directors Ryan Conarro, Seth Ready and Herbert Alexander will join journalist Ann Marie Awad for a conversation about creating radio in an unexpected place and collaborating with people at different stages of the criminal justice system.
