Thanks, from ColoRadio!
Our Feb 21 event with Colorado Radio for Justice was a smashing success! Come to our next one on March 21!
You can RSVP for our next event on March 21 at 6:30 PM!
Here are the deets:
ColoRadio’s monthly series focused on the power of audio continues with a conversation about covering white supremacy. By now, a few different people have told the story of Alan Berg, a Denver talk radio host murdered in 1984 by the white supremacist group The Order. One of them is Josh Mattison, whose limited series The Order of Death was released in 2019. Another was Kevin Flynn, former journalist and current City Council member, whose book The Silent Brotherhood, written with the late Gary Gerhardt, provided the basis for another, more recent telling: the 2024 film The Order. Flynn joins Josh to discuss their approaches to Alan Berg’s story, why they both felt compelled to to tell it, and what we should know about covering white supremacist violence today.

Thanks so much for coming out to the Denver Press Club on a slushy Friday evening to hear from our first guests: the team from Colorado Radio for Justice! Thanks to everyone who came, and big thanks to our friend Grayton Newman who took nice photos of us. Thanks especially to our speakers: Seth Ready, co-director for production & community programming, Herbert Alexander, co-director for production & training, associate producer Tiffany McCoy and Ryan Conarro, co-director for programs & partnerships.
You should definitely listen to more examples of their work:
Incarcerated Dads by Herbert Alexander
WORTHY: Colorado Reentry Stories by Seth Ready & Ryan Conarro

And of course be sure to check out CORJ’s launch party on April 15 at Youth on Record! More details here.
