Don’t forget to join us next Friday for an evening in conversation with Tennessee Watson on Friday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Based in Laramie, Wyoming, Watson is the managing editor for WyoFile. An award-winning journalist, Watson's work has appeared on NPR, Reveal, the Heart and the Modern West. She will be joined in conversation by Esther Honig, independent journalist and StoryCorps producer.

It’s the 10th anniversary of Watson’s Peabody-nominated documentary series “Silent Evidence,” produced as a season of the Heart podcast. In “Silent Evidence,” Watson confronts her childhood sexual abuser, documenting her decades-long journey to going public, and her experience with the criminal justice system, all the while asking larger questions that still feel relevant today: Why do survivors stay silent? Does silence protect survivors, or does it do harm?

Watson joins us to discuss her behind-the-scenes process of reporting “Silent Evidence,” as well as how journalists can holistically center the stories of survivors when reporting on sexual abuse.
